Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, walked the face of the earth over four thousand years ago. John 3:16(NLT) says, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” Through Jesus Christ, we learn how much God loves us. His only begotten Son is His greatest treasure, and He gave him to the world. Anyone that has been given the privilege and honor of being someone’s parent or guardian can relate to this. As responsible and supportive parents and guardians, our love for our children is beyond what we could have ever imagined. Our hearts swell with love for them, and we want to protect them at all cost. We would do just about anything for their well-being. Well, God’s love is exponentially higher and deeper than ours. The love He has for His Son and the unity they share is nothing short of perfection, yet God gave His Son to be sacrificed for our sins. He did this because He loves us that much. It’s almost beyond comprehension.
This not only demonstrates the worth and value God has placed on our lives, but it also demonstrates in high-definition technicolor the kind of relationship that God wants with us. Jesus Christ shed his blood to cleanse our sins for all eternity, and not only this, he made it possible for us to have the kind of relationship with Heavenly Father that even Adam and Eve didn’t have. Ephesians 1:13-14(MSG) tells us, “It’s in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of your salvation), found yourselves home free—signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit. This signet from God is the first installment on what’s coming, a reminder that we’ll get everything God has planned for us, a praising and glorious life.” Through Jesus Christ, God placed His Spirit in our body temples and then sealed us with His Holy Spirit! And as amazing as this is, it’s just the first installment of all that God has for us—all that is to come.
God wanted a family, and because of the pattern He set up, children are produced from the seed of their fathers. You and I couldn’t have done this. We didn’t set it up this way, Heavenly Father did. Genesis 1:11, 21(NLT) tells us, “Then God said, “Let the land sprout with vegetation—every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.” And that is what happened. 21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird—each producing offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.” Birds can’t produce monkeys, and elephants can’t produce giraffes. The pattern that God set forth is that every living thing produces after its own kind.
In this same manner, God created us in His image. We were created to be like Him. Why? So that we could have fellowship and relationship with Him. He wanted a family and we’re it! Genesis 1:26-27(NLT) tells us, “26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” 27 So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” God created us to be like Him, and 1John 4:8 tells us that God is love. Therefore, you and I have no other choice but to conclude that love is a big part of who we are and what we were put on earth to do.
God’s love is life! God’s love expressed through Jesus Christ is the foundation of our lives, and relationships are the houses we build on that foundation. As we build and strengthen relationships with others, we are privileged to be conduits of Heavenly Father’s love, because when His love is expressed through the example of Jesus Christ, it is the most powerful force in the universe. God’s love creates! It motivates and produces the most wonderful results. Our responsibility as His children is to make sure we move through His love. This is how we continue to remain in harmony with God’s agenda, however, expressing His unconditional love to others is sometimes where many of us get stuck. For those who love us back and are friendly towards us, we find that being loving is very easy. But when it comes to those that have hurt us and are not supportive towards our well-being, we tend to disconnect and cut ourselves off. We stop the flow of God’s love towards them, and therefore cut off an avenue for God’s love to flow into us as well.
Our self-preservation reflexes are engrained in our makeup. They come baked in, but as we mature spiritually, we should recognize that God is our Protector, and the confidence and knowledge of this should dissuade us from putting up walls and keeping them up. Of course, there are certain individuals within every family unit that are detrimentally toxic, and we must keep our distance, but as followers of Jesus Christ, He’s the One who decides this. Our posture must be one of obeying HIS guidance. Some individuals in our families are nothing like the people we’ve made them out to be or that others have made them out to be. We’ve ostracized them, ignored and neglected them, and casted them aside. It could be that they are the very link to God’s plan for bringing His healing to issues within our bloodlines, and because of a trick of the devil, we’re missing the blessing of God. We’ve allowed roadblocks, things like negative attitudes, feelings, and thoughts to operate in our hearts, and these things have blocked God’s love from moving through us. We can’t see people the way He sees them, and we have to change this.
None of us understand the magnitude of the way internal blockers can impede the flow of God’s love from moving through us. The decisions we make to hold on to fear, shame, anger, resentment, and hurt are so costly because they affect generations to come. Negativity does not remain dormant or stagnant. It spreads, but praise God, so does His love. His love not only spreads through us, but it bountifully impacts everything and everyone it touches.
Our sojourn on this earth provides us with opportunities to learn the spiritual lessons of God’s love through our relationship with Him. You and I can’t dictate what those lessons are, but we can be assured that the first place they will start is within our own families. As believers and followers of Christ, we can’t afford to overlook the reality that his love working through us is an integral part of our destinies. As we lean completely on Jesus Christ, and remain committed to follow his lead, he will direct us to strengthen our relationships first with God, then within our family units, and finally with our relationships with others.■

- A Surrendered HeartSurrender is a word that makes a lot of us uncomfortable. For many, it sounds like losing, like laying down your fight and letting life run over you. But in the kingdom of God, surrender is not weakness—it’s strength. It’s where we discover real, raw, unshakable power that doesn’t come from us, but from Him. A surrendered heart is one that says, “God, I’m yours—completely. Even when I don’t get it, even when it hurts, even when life seems to be going the opposite way.” That kind of surrender is bold. It’s faith in motion. Letting Go to Gain What…
- Honoring God with Your Whole LifeNot just your worship—but your walk, your work, your everything Honoring God with our whole life sounds beautiful on paper—but let’s be real, it’s a lot harder to walk out when real life’s challenges hit. We live in a culture that’s totally fine with compartmentalizing faith. Go to church on Sunday, pray when things fall apart, maybe post a scripture here and there—but don’t bring God into your business decisions, your dating life, your schedule, or how you show up in the world. Just keep Him in His lane. But God can’t be boxed in. Part-time loyalty gets us part-time…
- Released – Breaking Free from the Things That Bind Us -Part 6 -FinalStepping Boldly Into the Freedom You Were Made For Nothing our Heavenly Father does is random. Every move He makes, every Word He speaks, and every door He opens or shuts is purposeful according to His divine Will and plan. He’s awesome and amazing, and we can have overwhelming confidence that His brilliance and love never fail. His plans are intentional. They are wise and loving, even when we don’t fully understand them. And when God releases you from something, it’s never just for your temporary relief. It’s for your eternal growth. Feeling good is very important to us, and…
- Released – Breaking Free from the Things That Bind Us -Part 5When You’re Bound by the Idea of Who You Were Supposed to Be Derrick used to be “the one with potential.” Everybody saw it. Coaches said he had leadership in his bones. Teachers called him a natural. His family believed he was destined for something great. It felt like his future had already been written—he just needed to show up and live it out. But at 39, Derrick sat in the parking lot of a job he barely tolerated, staring at a life that didn’t look anything like what people imagined for him. He was divorced, exhausted, and still fighting…
- Released – Breaking Free from the Things That Bind Us -Part 4When Your History Is Blocking Your Destiny 2 Corinthians 10:4 (NLT)“We use God’s mighty weapons… to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.” There comes a time when you have to ask yourself a real question: Why am I still stuck here? You love God, you’ve prayed, cried, fasted—and yet, there’s a familiar pattern that keeps showing up in your life. Maybe it’s that unhealthy relationship you can’t quite detach from, the dysfunctional family cycle that seems to follow you into every new season, or that inner voice that keeps repeating what someone else said…
- Released – Breaking Free from the Things That Bind Us-Part 3When Shame Still Has a Voice Darius had done a lot right over the last few years—got sober, got saved, got serious about building a new life. From the outside, it looked like redemption was in full swing: steady job, deeper faith, even leading a men’s Bible study at his recovery center. But sometimes, even when the fruit is good, the root still aches. He had been with Lena—now his ex—for eight years before they finally married. She was loyal, steady, the kind of woman who made broken things feel safe. When he’d show up at midnight after working a…
- Released – Breaking Free from the Things That Bind Us-Part 2When Survival Becomes a Stronghold You can be walking with God, serving in your church, and raising your kids right—and still be bound by a mindset that was only meant to get you through a hard season, not define your whole life. Sometimes the stronghold isn’t a substance or a relationship—it’s who we had to become just to make it. The no-nonsense version of you. The overachiever. The overly independent woman who keeps everything on her back and won’t let anyone come close enough to help. That “version” may have gotten you through—but it’s not the healed you. It’s not…
- Released – Breaking Free from the Things That Bind Us-Part 1Part 1: The Prison You Can’t Always See You can hold down a job, provide for your family, lead in your church—and still feel locked up on the inside. And it’s not always obvious from the outside. Sometimes the most bound people are the ones who look like they’ve got it all together. That’s because invisible prisons don’t always look like failure. Sometimes they look like high-functioning fear. You can be saved. You can be gifted, anointed even. You can have the call of God on your life, show up every day doing what you’re supposed to do—serving, leading, producing,…
- Grace That Finds Us AnywayHere’s the thing about God’s grace—it doesn’t wait on you to get your life together. It’s not checking for perfection or waiting for some grand comeback story. Nope. Grace pulls up right in the middle of our messy situations, with no filter and no pretense. It sees the real you—the broken pieces, the stuff you don’t talk about—and still, God’s grace chooses to stay. It doesn’t ask you to earn it. It just shows up. That kind of love and grace humbles you. It meets you right where you are and offers what you didn’t even know you needed. God’s…
- Loving Beyond ComfortIn Luke 10:25-37 is Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan, and with all his parables, the lessons are impactful to our lives no matter the stage of our spiritual growth and maturity. The backdrop for this parable is Luke 10:25 (NLT), the occasion of a religious expert who tried to test Jesus with a question: “Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?” In the next verse, we read that Jesus flipped it back on him: “What does the law of Moses say? How do you read it?” The man answered right—Love God with all your heart, soul, strength,…
- God’s Resurrection PowerWe often hear the phrase “resurrection power” in sermons, songs, and Christian conversations. But do we truly grasp what it means? It’s more than a description of God’s power—it’s a reality so rich that it covers every detail of life. We are where we are today because Jesus Christ did not stay in the grave. God raised Him up from the dead with all power in His hands! That same resurrection power is the unstoppable, unmatched force that broke the grip of death and made it possible for every believer to walk in newness of life. It’s not just something…
- When Our Relationships Become IdolsGenesis 2:18 (NLT) is a significant verse when it comes to the record of God’s creation. It lets us in on the conversation God is having with His beloved Son and Holy Spirit, saying: “Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”” Genesis 1:31 tells us that everything God made was good, but the creation of Eve shows us that He wasn’t done yet—He had a specific plan still unfolding. Our Heavenly Father is perfect beyond perfection; He leaves no detail unfinished….
- Our Role in God’s Divine PlanA wonderful young believer who is deeply committed to pleasing God was feeling a little down about his life. Despite his desire to honor our Heavenly Father, he was finding it challenging to shake the feeling that his life lacked significance. He had a rough childhood, and as an adult, he’s worked tirelessly just to keep his bills paid and maintain his independence. With so much focus on survival, he couldn’t shake the thought that maybe he wasn’t fulfilling his purpose. “It’s been hard for me all my life, and I don’t think I have any special talents or abilities;…
- Living AbundantlyOur Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, said in John 10:10 (NKJV), “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have [it] more abundantly.” This is a powerful truth! It reveals crucial insight into our purpose, our rights as followers of Christ, and the enemy who seeks to disrupt them. We are born with a desire for more life, and John 10:10 assures us that we can have it increasingly as we put on more of Christ. In Ephesians 2:10, our Heavenly Father…
- Jesus Christ Revealed Our Heavenly FatherYahweh, our Creator and Heavenly Father, should be at the forefront of our thoughts, every single day, from the moment we wake until we rest our heads. It’s really that simple. And when we think about Him, we should be in absolute awe of His sovereignty, majesty, and perfection. Isaiah 55:8-9 (NLT) tells us, ““My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”” His…
- Meditating on God’s WordAs believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we often hear the importance of reading the Bible, but how many of us truly take the time to meditate on it? Meditating on God’s Word isn’t just about reading through the Bible quickly, it’s about soaking in the truths of Scripture, allowing them to sink deeply into our hearts and minds. Psalm 1:2-3 (NLT) encourages us to meditate on God’s Word: “But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither,…
- When It Just Gets So BadWhen I think about spiritual warfare, I’m always reminded of the Book of Job in the Old Testament. We can’t know how much time elapsed between each tribulation Job experienced, but his account informs us that he lost everything. He lost his wealth, all his children died, his health declined, leaving him to suffer miserably, and his reputation tanked. His friends assumed he was going through all of that because he had sinned against God. They were, at best, antagonistic. He called them his “miserable comforters”, and indeed they were. With only he and his wife left, you would expect…
- The Making of a Good StewardJesus Christ said in Luke 12:48 (NKJV), “For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required;” reminding us that greater accountability and responsibility will always accompany greater blessings. Through His powerful and beloved Son, Jesus Christ, God has blessed us with a level of abundance that exceeds our grandest imagination. The universe overflows with His generosity, and blessings continually flow from heaven’s doors. It is crucial that we manage these blessings wisely. God’s brilliance is unlimited, and everything He does is supremely intelligent. He has designed the system of “more” in such a way that those…
- Love Is More Than A FeelingRom-coms, reality tv, and romance novels often make it seem like love is always easy and effortless. But the truth is, real love is more than a feeling; it’s a commitment, and it isn’t always easy. It’s not just about those warm, fuzzy feelings or perfect moments. True love takes work, commitment, and sometimes tough choices. Whether it’s spouses, family, or friends, love is about having each other’s back and supporting one another through the ups and downs. It’s understanding each other’s flaws and showing up for one another. Yes, love is more than just a feeling—it’s a daily action…
- God’s Promises Are GuaranteedIn a world where nothing seems to stay the same and nothing feels permanent, it’s refreshing to know that some things are rock-solid. God’s promises are like a steady anchor in a stormy sea. They are unshakeable truths that give us hope and comfort, because His promises cannot fail. Hebrews 10:23 (ESV) tells us, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” And 2 Corinthians 1:20 (ESV) echoes this: “For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our…
- The Simple Rule of Godly and Successful LivingKenny’s father passed away when he was just seven years old. With money being tight, his mom, who was deeply devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ, worked tirelessly to provide for their family. Despite her faith, Kenny had little interest in it as a child. Sunday school felt like a chore to him, and as he grew into adulthood, not much changed. At that time, there were seven of them living in a cramped two-bedroom apartment. As the middle child, Kenny frequently clashed with his siblings, except for his younger brother, Peter. The apartment was frequently filled with the sounds…
- The Good Fight of FaithIn 1 Timothy 6:12 (NLT), the Apostle Paul gives a powerful message through his encouragement to his apprentice, Timothy: “Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses.” Paul is urging Timothy—and us—to stay strong in our faith and keep pressing forward, no matter how tough things get. He’s encouraging us to stick with Jesus Christ, because he’s our foundation. We should hold on to our faith in him through trials, temptations, and persecutions that come our way because we…
- The Biggest Mistake in LifeExodus 20 has profound significance in God’s Word because it marks the delivery of the Ten Commandments by God to Moses, the leader of the Israelites; God’s chosen people in the Old Testament. The first four commandments focus on the relationship between God and humanity; and the very first commandment is the foundation upon which all the others rest. Exodus 20:1-3 (NLT) states: “1 Then God gave the people all these instructions: 2 “I am the LORD your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery. 3 “You must not have any other god…
- Giving Praise and Honor to GodWhen we find ourselves in a rut, experiencing a sense of stagnation and lack of inspiration, it may be because we’ve lost sight of both God’s nature and our identity in Him. Many believers, despite professing faith, seem devoid of the genuine enthusiasm that should accompany salvation. They might go through the motions of being a Christian, but deep down, they’re not really feeling that connection between loving God and truly worshiping Him. And if our spiritual outlook hasn’t broadened, then we’re missing out on all the amazing things our Heavenly Father has in store for us. He doesn’t want…
- Toxic Patterns and Dating MistakesWhen Tabby was ten years old, her father left her mother and her two younger brothers, but she wasn’t sad about it at all. Her mother worked two jobs, and Tabby and her brothers would pick up odd jobs in the neighborhood on the weekends when they got old enough. They were struggling, but her mother’s love for them made their lives so sweet that it didn’t feel like a struggle at all. Her father constantly complained about how unhappy he was when he lived with them. He said that his family was the reason he couldn’t be the success…
